Stress contributes to weight gain in many different ways, one of the main problems in our society is that we consume ourselves in our work so much that we unconsciously tend to forget about our health. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts it is imperative that you find yourself an "out" basically something that you do that helps you unwind, unload, and reboot. When I am stressed I either go for a brisk run, or go relax in the sauna, by doing this it allows my mind to clear itself and think things through rationally. Studies have shown that sweating either from exercising or relaxing in a steam room or sauna helps minimize many forms of stress and more importantly the release of bad toxins that are bodies store within our systems. Many of the viruses, fevers, flu, and colds symptoms we suffer from can be minimized just from sweating alone....READ MORE....

I kinda agree to this. My cousin's way of dealing stress is eating.
Stress can really destroy your health if you want it to.

You are so right, and studies have shown that that is typically way that many of us deal with it is by eating.

Eating can become an addiction like any other too. My farther in-law works as a head master of a secondry school.
I very stressfull job and his "addiction" to over eating has led him to become well over 25stone in weight
and has contributed to, too many afflictions and problems to count. It's really heartbreaking watching him do this to him self.
However like you said an out-let for your stress can really help but how would some one like this with a real problem stop them selfs from falling back on old habits when times get tough?

Ronin66 I can totally agree a friend of mine was the same way initially using food as his comfort to deal with many problems he was having and he became extremely obese to the point that it became life threatening. Once this happened he then realized that he had a problem and reached out for help, he attended group meetings with individuals who were in his same situation (counselor monitored) and that along with other things help him to remain on track preventing him from as you mentioned "falling back". Many times individuals such as this need to know that you are there for them, and that there are others like him out there (basically he is not alone) that are having the same problems.
