H.I.I.T or High Interval Intensity Training has been something I have picked up from Muscle and Fitness magazine and have been using for my cardio workouts to help burn those extra calories and get lean and cut in the process.

This type of training involves choosing a cardio workout such as jogging on the treadmill, riding a bicycle or using an elliptical and beginning on a normal pace to get your heart rate going, then boost your speed and intensity up dramatically for around a minute to a minute and a half, then return to a normal pace for a minute to a minute and a half, then kick back up to that high intensity and go for another minute to minute and a half and continue this trend for around 20-30 minutes.

What this does is it allows your body to be confused and burn extra calories as you are boosting your heart rate dramatically and using more force, more energy and muscles to kick start yourself into that high intensity, then when you return back to the normal pace you were at you are allowing your body to rest and relax for a second then pushing yourself back into that high intensity once again to burn more and extra calories. It keeps your body confused, active and alert to burn more calories and heart racing.

For those looking to lose an extra bit of calories/weight and become more lean and cut while also gaining more endurance, this is a great cardio technique, worthy of beginners and expert lifters to give a try for themselves

I've heard of it. Apparently I do that and I didn't realize it. My normal pace is ~4.0MPH. I burst to ~6.0MPH. Then back to normal. I do this because I can't run all out at ~6 very long.

I am in the same position now, I used to run 2-3 miles straight at 7.0MPH but haven't done much cardio lately but the thing is that doing the H.I.I.T training provides more results then doing straight and same speed cardio for a few miles and then ending your cardio with a 2-3 minute walk

I have been doing this on the treadmill and elliptical for a couple of weeks now. On the treadmill, I jog for about 10 minutes at 7.0-7.5 mph, then "sprint" at 10-11 mph, with a "resting" speed of 6.8-7.0. I do enjoy it, but I think I prefer to do it on a track more, since I can sprint faster without fear of falling off the treadmill when I slow down a little.

That is the one thing that I do hate about treadmills is that if you aren't careful enough then one little slipup and you are off and on that ground faster then you can catch yourself. With a track at least you have the ability to go at your own pace and if you slip up at least you can possibly catch yourself and not feel as embarrassed and not as hurt

I've been doing the Spartacus Workouts for the last six weeks, which is the type of thing and the fat just starts to drop off right away if your willing to push your self hard from begining to end!
