I'l looking into getting my first pre workout supplement to help me push it that bit more and get focused etc

just wondering what others use/suggest and why?

Preferably looking for something that's not caffeine based as high caffeine energy drinks etc do nothing for me, and as with everything the cheaper the better!!

After abit of a search around i'm thinkin it's between

Muscle Pharm Assault
Betancourt Nutrition Bullnox Androrush
Nutrex HEMO-RAGE Black Ultra concentrate
Anadraulic Pump
Amped NOS
Anadraulic State GT
NOX Pump 30 sachets UltraLife
Jack3d

Basically most of the supps out there haha

Well I've used 2 of the ones on your list; Jack3d and Assault. Jack3d is not what you're looking for if you don't want caffeine based. I will say that even if your tolerance for energy drinks is high, it won't be for Jack3d. I don't get anything out of energy drinks either but Jack3d still got me going. It is more than caffeine.

Assault is less about caffeine and more of a beta-alanine type boost. I got more of that tingly feeling taking that then the Jack3d.

Now to throw off your decision, I'm currently taking ON's Amino Energy. It's something in between the two. There is a slight tingly feeling which I seem to have grown a tolerance to. There's no instant jolt like Jack3d. There's also no crash at the end. It lasts my entire workout. So far, this is my favorite of the three.

Make things easier for me why dont ya haha!

Spose ill just have to price them up and see which is the cheapest/best

Bullnox doesn't seem to exist on most websites so theres 1 down

I think muscle pharm is cheaper than like jack3d etc
but then again some of the lesser known ones are cheaper and i can get them straight away
gaahh i hate shopping haha!
Times like this i need a woman!

Assault may look cheaper, but Jack3d uses less per serving. They don't have many fillers so a tiny scoop (roughly a tablespoon) goes a long way. Assault uses a scoop near the size of typical whey scoops.

Exactly as Justin said, Assault may look cheaper but you get more per serving with Jack3d as for Assault you are paying around 35-40$ a tub while with Jack3d you can get it for around 22-25$ depending on where you shop and around 45 servings which is phenomenal if you are trying to save money on a pre-workout supplement.

Honestly as Justin has been saying about Amino Energy, I REALLY want to test it out now as I am looking for that energy buzz for my workouts lately and not just a tingly feeling, I want something to give me a significant amount of energy, a pump and without any crash which makes it seem like im going for NO Xplode 2.0 or Amino Energy.

Bullnox I heard was to be good but my friend said he took HemoRage and it gave him diarrhea and really bad upset stomachs, also a crash but thats what he told me.

The name HemoRage is a little to close to hemroid for me. :p

Muscle pharm is about 20 quid for 25 servings n jack3d about 25+ for 30
i think the bullnox is more focused on testosterone boosting/eastragon blocking
hemorage is suposed to be good but i get some bad stomachs anyway so not gonna risk something thatll make that worse

I'm a bit tolerant to caffeine too, drinking about a half gallon of coffee a day before cutting down & using a PWO supp.

MuscleTech's Neurocore adds other stims on top of the 330 mg of caffeine in a full serving. It still gives me a nice, clean boost of energy and pretty decent focus. Overall, I'd say the effects last about 4 hours with no crash.

I tried Animal Rage last night... again, clean energy, but noticeably less focus. I still found myself thinking about work crap rather than my workout. The energy didn't seem to last as long either, maybe 2 hours or so.

Both worked much better than my old 20oz of coffee 30 minutes or so before my workout. Not sure of the price of Animal Rage, but Neurocore isn't terribly cheap (~$2/serving at it's full 3 scoop dosage). I've got a trial of 1MR that I'm gonna try on Monday (squat day).

Get a sample of ON Amino Energy as well. Bodybuilding.com gives you samples with orders. Well worth the try.

Actually on GNC and I think BB.com had Neurocore for 24.99$ and I was tempted to buy it plus the 25% discount from GNC I would have gone for but decided to go with NO Xplode 2.0 as I have always been a NO Xplode 1.0 fan and 2.0 seemed like a reasonable choice to go with. I cant believe they have 330 mg of caffeine in it because that is about 2 1/2 cups of coffee or so but if its no crash I am REALLY tempted to try it because NANO Vapor wasn't as good as I thought it could be.

Never really read into bullnox but saw alot of positive reviews for it but the fact its testosterone enhancing makes me a bit afraid because you are tampering with natural and along the lines of steroids in my opinion. Never really thought highly of testosterone enhancers.

I wanted to try Animal Rage because they make the fantastic Animal Pak and if they make such a great multivitamin they must make a fantastic pre-workout powder.

Coffee is great to drink (black though of course before the gym) but usually I get crashes from my coffee and really dislike that.

1MR? God bless you, that stuff made my stomach sick and I crashed as soon as I got out of the gym, read a few reviews on that but thankfully you got a trial version haha

How long have you been taking it? I found after about 3 weeks or so, I had to up the scoops. Caffeine tolerance kicked in and it seemed to have less of an effect.

Yeah Justin that is the same exact thing that I had, while taking jack3d I just grew tolerant of the caffeine intake and since I am addicted to caffeine with each scoop I wanted MORE and MORE and MORE! Which to the point I was taking it and getting no jitters or anything at all. Probably should have cycled sooner but that is the one thing with some of the pre-workout supplements is that you become tolerant of the caffeine that is in the product

I was up to 3 scoops, even 3 1/2 just because (never got the super increased heart rate and even felt tired at times in the gym)

I'll hafta check the site out.

I tried the 1MR on Monday. Energy & focus were pretty decent. Didn't crash from it, but did end up with an ocular migraine (basically the visual part of a migraine without the actual headache pain) about 2 hrs after taking it. Haven't had one of those in a couple of years, but also don't want to jump to conclusions and say the 1MR triggered it either. YMMV

I've got another packet of Animal Rage to try too. We'll see if it's any better the second time around. :)

Yeah, the ads for Neurocore mention 330 mg caffeine. The fine print is that the amount is in 3 scoops, not 1 (110 mg each). So it's only 15 servings per container instead of 45. But again, I've got a high tolerance to caffeine too.

Although I don't suggest getting anywhere near it 2500-3000mg of caffeine in a 24 hour cycle is unsafe. I regularly take in 1400mg a day (400-600mg before my workout). Just remember the effects are different for everyone. You might have to experiment a little to find out how your body responds.

I understand a lot of the members in the forum are adamant about their pre-workout supplements. I would rather spend my hard earned money on a proven product. I don't think you will be disappointed.

doubt i'd get anywhere near that much, apparently 5 mg per pound of bodyweight depending on tolerances etc is a prope recommended dose

Ive tried the bullnox and I really didnt like it. A lot of them have magnesium which might have some people running for the toilet. I just bought controlled labs white flood and I'm liking it. It doesn't have creatine in it which is good cause I bought the buy one get one free con-cret. Superpump max is also great but im sure they all affect everyone different.

I've found the two that work best for me are jack 3d and cellucor's c4 extreme. I've grown to prefer the c4 and you get 60 scoops for under 35 bucks. Jack 3d is usually a good bet for the money if you find it online, no fancy container = cheaper price to you. Also it isn't just the caffeine in jack3d that give such a strong stimulant effect, it contains geranium extract, chemically listed as 1, 3 dimethylamylamine. This ingredient has actually been banned in canada. These two, jack 3d and c4 are my current favorites, and like stated above they are tiny scoops with no fillers. Hope this has been helpfull.

Yea they are looking to ban 1, 3 in the United States as well and that is one of the ingredients that gives you that focused feeling that you get from certain pre-workouts I.E Jack3d, that is one of the main reasons why people buy that product and love it for its tunnel vision/intense focus as the 1, 3 is an intense stimulant. I have it in my Dexaprine and understand why people love the feeling of that ingredient. I haven't read into any of the details of why it is being banned or what is harmful about it but probably should if it is an ingredient that is about to be banned.

I just tried SuperPump Max and I like the product but still looking for that intense pump, this product gave me the vascularity that I was looking for again but I want that pump, i want that skin tearing feeling and that I can keep going. Don't need the focus but want that pump and veins haha.

Still looking around for that pre-workout supplement to grab me and lock me into that product, nothing really has yet

I feel that this possible ban has a lot to do with the use of 1,3 Dimethylamylamine (also known as methylhexanamine), being used as the main ingredient in "party pills" (pills that try to mimic the high of ecstasy). I'm sure anything marketed as a recreational high is enough to scare our half educated government representatives into passing a bill to ban it. Just my opinion.

In my opinion assault is the best formula compared Jack3d. It may cost a bit more but it is worth it considering your getting BCAA, glutamine, creatine HCL etc. It is by far better tasting too.

I think Assault is decent tasting, but it does taste like sweetener. Jack3d watermelon is by far the best tasting, but it does lack other things as you mentioned. Controlled Labs has the worst tasting one. So bad, I could only manage one sip.

I too have been looking for a great pre workout drink. Wanted one with out caffeine. From what a trainer told me. A good workout drink with N.O. is what helps open the blood vessels and gets oxygen in the muscles while working out, and caffeine does the exact opposite and restricks the blood vessels. So I started using EVP by http://www.evogennutrition.com/. So far I am loving it. Really gives me that focus and I can really feel the muscles getting firm and solid while I am working out. Taste is not too bad. It is a bit pricey but I think it is on sale at bodybuilding.com right now. I have begun stacking it with their Cell K.E.M. Only been a few days but liking it so far.
