Hi,

I injured my arm lifting, I guess. I can still work out but I have a severe pain in my bicep if I try to do dumbbell military presses or dumbbell flyes. Also, my shoulder and tricep will hurt when I do certain exercises. I also have a sharp pain in my arm when I try to throw a football for any distance. Can anyone diagnose this? It has been like this for several months and does not appear to be getting better. Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Any bruising? Have you tried resting and icing it? If it doesn't go away after a couple days of that, don't waste your time on us and see a doctor.

If there's no bruising, I'd guess a pretty severe strain.

no bruising but it has been a few months with the same pain. If it is a severe strain, what is the treatment? Just rest?

if you don't rest & ice it regularly it won't go away. Typically this is what the doctor would prescribe. That + ibuprofen.

yep, basically rest it, ice it, try and avoid the point or movement where it hurts and maybe slowly try some simple stretching

are you sure you havent damaged tendons in your arm. can be very painfull esp when using the muscles that connect to them. if it is only cure is time and direct heat (hot water bottle, wheat pack) also ibuprofen for pain everyday for aslong as it takes. seriously stop doing any excersie otherwise it wont get better, believe me im a plasterer and happened to me
