    Irkie500's Stronglift 5x5 progress log

    So a bit of background on myself before I get started. I began lifting when I was around 15 and really knew what I was doing when I was about 18-19 or so. Being 20.5 years old now Im really starting to take things to a new level and try something completely new. Gone are the tireless days of isolation exercises and split routines which did very little in the long run. In is a very simplified compound workout that hits all my goals: Get stronger, Leaner, and in overall better shape.

    Starting Stats
    Height 5' 9"
    Weight 172lbs
    BF about 12-13%
    Ultimate Goal - Be a clean 185lbs Max Bench-350 by start of spring, Deadlift over 400 by start of spring

    Supplements
    ON Hydrolyzed Whey Protein
    ON Creatine, Glutamine, Taurine for a during workout drink 10g each
    Animal Stack(Starting week 3) I've had very good results in the past and I think this workout is perfect to see some solid gains while on it.
    ON BCAA 5000 at night with a protein shake to aid in recovery
    Muscle Pharm Assault
    ON HMB Tablets 1g each

    All exercises done with 5 reps for 5 sets constant weight, Increasing weight each day by 5-10lbs

    Played volleyball on Thursday and had some shoulder trouble toward the end, thus I needed to take it easy in shoulder presses when I went to the gym Friday.

    Today marks day 1 of Animal Stack as well, gains should be really solid week 2-3 of the cycle.

    looks like we are at about the same place on our lifts. Congrats on your new PR in Dealifts. Deadlifts are no joke

    Thanks you for the kind words. Squats are getting pretty tough right now, I figure another 20 pounds and ill stall out or miss reps. Bench and deadlifts have a ways to go before I start slowing down. Thanks for checking in I appreciate the support. Work hard and lift big my friend!

    I ordered Muscle Pharm Assault pre workout drink to try and give me that extra boost in the gym. In addition I picked up some ON HMB to assist with recovery and prevent muscle breakdown. From the studies I looked at combining that with creatine produced upwards of a 200% gain in lean mass in a group of untrained individuals compared to the control group. For $29.99 im going to give it a go, ill report later on how it works.

    Took the mucle pharm assault today before working out and all I can say is wow. Squats were still hard but felt easier to do than yesterday. Energy boost was great still hyped up even.now when writing this post haha. Ill report a bit amore in a few weeks. Lifting log updated in OP.

    Had a nice session in the gym this morning. Squats are getting tough, luckily my lifting partner is home from school for a few weeks so I have a spotter now that the weight is getting quite high. Wont be back in they gym until Tuesday due to the work schedule.

    A random tangent...my gyms hours suck, they close at 4pm on Sunday, and I have work until 3:30. Monday im working 12 hours so no chance there. Ill hit it hard on Tuesday and go for that 225 on squats.
