Well there was a big argument about this in the body fat thread. The answer is that there is no way to be sure since I lack the resources to check its reading against x-ray or flotation tank methods and I'm not quite ready to be autopsied yet..
But the machine cost me £500 and the literature it came with was quite impressive so I choose to believe it. And it seems to me to read quite consistently. On the other hand, the calipers I bought say my body fat is 13% and that is clearly wrong...
