Hello JEFIT Users,
We are very proud to announce that the Major Update for the JEFIT Workout Application, before IPhone App development, has been released!
1.) Ability To Set up Target Rep:
The Target Rep feature has been one of the most requested functions to be added by many of our JEFIT users and the request has been fulfilled. This new function will be a preference feature that will allow users to preload their repetitions for workouts with either the Last Logs recorded for their exercises or with the new Target Reps feature. Target Repetitions means that you will be able to set the goal for the amount of repetitions and sets that you want to perform for each exercise, a test to see if you can do the amount of repetitions that you have set for yourself.
To utilize this function, begin in the main menu and click on the “Preferences” button and scroll down to the very bottom of the page. There will be the section that states “Preload Reps With >” and you will have the option for either your “Last Logs or Target Reps”. Click on the “Target Reps” button and return back to the main menu, from here you will want to click “Routine” and select any routine that you want to use for that day. On the routine exercise page in the very bottom right hand corner there will be a button that states “Rest Timer/Sets/Target Reps”, click on that button and you will be brought to the modifying page of the Target Reps function. Here on this page you will see a list of your entire workout with editable sections for Rest Timer, Target Sets and Target Reps that will be used to for the routine. By modifying each variable you will set the Target amount of time, sets and reps that you want to perform for each exercise in your routine, so when you begin your first workout, it will have the preloaded Targeted information ready for you to begin.
*Note that when you are editing your variable in the Targeted Repetitions selection, you can add as many repetitions as you want. BUT when you modify the amount of sets you want, lets say you add 4 sets but only set your reps for each set as 8, 6 , and 4, on the last set of your workout, the amount of repetitions will already be pre-determined as 4.*
2.) Facebook and Twitter Like Button:
Social Media has taken great strides in the past few years with both Facebook and Twitter skyrocketing to the forefront of social media tools and the way that people spread news to one another or share thoughts, information or personal details. Here at JEFIT we want you to be able to share your information with your friends, to connect with other users that have JEFIT, offer up your support or suggestions on how to improve the application, motivate other JEFIT users to keep determined on their path of exercising and creating a better individual with the help of the JEFIT workout application. With this new feature, on the main menu UI, we offer the ability to either click on the Facebook icon or Twitter icon to connect with either social media tool and spread the news on your gains and about JEFIT, the tool that has been helping you improve your well being. In the future we will continue the progress on our social media tools in the application itself allowing users to be able to post and share their personal JEFIT information such as logs, profile information, progress pictures and other news about your workout success with friends and family.
3.) Profile and Progress Pictures:
We have included the feature for users to now be able to take progress pictures at the end of their exercise and upload it to the server at that same moment. No longer will you have to connect your phone to your computer, upload your photos into a folder then upload onto the JEFIT website. At the end of each exercise you will click on the “My Stats” button on the home UI or on the top navigational bar by clicking “Stats”. On this page you will see right below your Summary the button “Picture” which will take you to a new page with a blank screen with the selections of “Take Picture” “Delete” and “Upload” on the very bottom. From here you can click the “Take Picture” button activating your phone’s camera and the ability to take a progress picture after you lift at the gym or at any random time of the day. Take as many pictures as you like, then return back to the page with all of the photos that you have taken (Note all of your images will be stored on your phone, thus using your phone’s memory with each photo that is taken and saved. It is best to have an SD card so you will be able to store and take more pictures to upload onto your profile).
Click on the Upload button and you will have the ability to select from the photos that you have taken to upload onto the JEFIT server that will be stored in your progress pictures on your JEFIT Profile. As soon as you upload the photos onto the server, they will be forever stored upon the JEFIT server and kept within our database, you can delete them from your profile as you wish and re-upload other photos to keep track of your progress and how well you are doing at the gym. With the deletion button, you are offered the same ability as the upload feature but rather than uploading to the server, you select your images, then click the delete button to erase them from your phone’s memory (giving you space to take more photos to track your progress). We feel that this is a phenomenal and crucial feature for the JEFIT application and our users as keeping track of your progress is key, especially by physically seeing a body transformation in yourself and being motivated even more to improve on your well being and make more gains.
We have also provided the information stated in our forums with a tutorial on how to upload Progress Pictures from your computer hard drive onto your JEFIT Profile on either http://www.jefit.com/jefit-announcement/update-on-major-update-progress-pictures-and-new-os-platform/ or http://www.jefit.com/forum/showthread.php?5164-Progress-Photos. To quote a significant section in the blog post about the Progress Pictures “You can upload your pictures to your profiles and create an album that you can share with friends and other users on the forum pages. This allows you to receive positive feedback on your gains or wishes of success as you take your journey, along with the JEFIT application, to create and make a better you through hard work and fitness. We have posted a tutorial on the forums on how to create this feature at http://www.jefit.com/forum/showthread.php?5164-Progress-Photos and an example would be of our Web/Graphic Designer’s Album of http://www.jefit.com/forum/album.php?albumid=2601 (Not a plug at all but an example for you all to see how your pictures will be laid out and structured on the site). So go ahead and upload your pictures and share them with other members, receive feedback and responses so that you feel even more motivated to lift, exercise, lose weight and make gains!”
So as the JEFIT users we want you to enjoy this new feature, take as many pictures as possible, create numerous amounts of albums and share them on the forums, share them with other users, share them on Facebook and with your friends and show off the gains and progress that you have been making exercising and using the JEFIT Workout Application.
4.) Detailed Exercise Database and Search Function in Database:
One of the most important features about this update is the improvement to our exercise database with the inclusion of hundreds of more exercises, new equipment based exercises and expanding our database for those who are only able to do certain workouts. We wanted to be able to customize each workout with detailed information about the specific types of muscles each workout targets, the certain equipment that is based around each exercise and the inclusion of more text and data to the strength training exercises. By updating our database and including more detailed listings of the exercises that we have stored, we were able to separate each workout so that they are easily divided in groups with our brand new Search Function for the exercise database.
The Search Function was major concern of ours to include in this update as it allows users to search for various workouts whether they are equipment based, muscle based or the inclusion of both. Our users will be able to find workouts much easier rather than having to scroll through pages of exercises just to find the one that they were looking for all along. By either typing in the name of your exercise, the name of the equipment based in that workout or checking/un-checking the specific Muscle Groups/Equipment that is involved with the workout, users will be able to find the necessary workouts they need or even separate exercises based upon the muscle group being worked on that day.
To begin this process, users will start from the main menu and click on the “Exercise” button, once brought to the Exercise menu click on either on a Muscle Group or Select All, after being brought to the muscle selection page you will notice the new “Search” button on the bottom right hand corner and click this button. You will then be brought to the Built-In Search Exercise Database that will allow you to either type in a Keyword to your exercise, search exercises by muscle group or designate the workouts by equipment. We have separated the equipment based workouts by Bands, Barbells, Benches, Body Only, Dumbbell, Exercise Ball, E-Z Curl Bar, Foam Roll, Kettlebell, Cardio Based Machines, Strength Based Machines, Other, Pull-Up Bar and Weight Plates allowing our users to have ease of access to finding the necessary exercises for their routines or set up routines based around the equipment that have at their homes/gym. From here you can click on the check boxes next to each name of the equipment listed to either “Search For or Remove from the Search” and then once all fields are correct or to your desires, click the “Search” button on the top right corner to initiate the search for workouts and exercises requested based upon the search fields listed. Many of our users will pick up this function and its meaning immediately and provides for a simpler way to search for workouts, say, that are Barbell or Dumbbell only and creates an easier way to make routines for the week.
6.) Confirmation Before Deleting Routine of the Day:
With the confirmation feature being introduced in this update, users will be notified before the deletion of a routine from their main routine menu. Many users have had the issue and frustration with accidentally deleting their user-created routines from their main routine list in the midst of adding/updating their workouts, prompting us to include this feature so that aren’t any issues or accidental deletions in the editing process. Our message prompts you to make sure that you are sure that you want to delete this workout or exercise from your list, confirming the deletion upon pressing the Yes button on the pop up menu.
7.) Option to Link “Last Logs” to Exercise on that Day
In this update we have also included the function to link your last logs to either the exercise that you are currently working on for that day. This means that if you are performing an exercise, like the Dumbbell Curls, you will have the option to view the last logs stored on that exercise and try to beat your previous record of weight lifted/reps and set.
8.) Added Option to Setup Default Sets, Reps, Timer
Setting the default amount of sets, reps along with counter timer has been added as a preference feature in this update. With this brand new function, users will be able to set the standard amount of sets and reps that they will perform for every exercise on each routine and the timer that will be set after the set has been completed. This means that with each exercise, whatever the default setting is for their workouts, will be the amount of reps and sets that the user does. When you add an exercise for a routine, the amount of Sets/Reps and the Counter Timer will already be in place for the user to perform, sort of the same as the Target Reps function but rather than setting a target for the amount of reps you want to do or plugging in after an exercise, the system will already have the numerical preference that the user claims as their default for wanting to do for every exercise.
To set this function, start off on the main menu and click on the “Preferences” button. You will be brought to your JEFIT Preferences page, scroll down to the very bottom and you will notice right below “Link Last Logs and Preload Reps With” the option “Default Setup for New Workout Item”. This will be the area where you select the amount of Targeted Reps, Targeted Sets and the Rest Timer that will be used for every exercise that is added to your routines.
**For example** If you set your Targeted Reps to 10, your Targeted Sets to 4 and the Rest Timer to 45 seconds, for every exercise that is added to your routines, this will be the set default for which the user needs to perform for that workout, 4 sets with 10 reps each and a 45 second rest timer for each set. Having a set default for your exercises will be a very useful tool for those advanced JEFIT users who know already how much time they would like to rest before each set and how many sets and reps they would like to do before each workout. It saves you the time of having to plug in the amount of reps and save the amount of sets you want for each exercise.
9.) Added Quick Timer on Log Create Page
We have also included the newest feature to the logs page, which allows users to set a quick timer to a workout that they are currently on or to their routine. From the main menu users will click on the Logs button bringing them to the page of their listed logs of the month, then click the week of exercises that you are on. On this page you will click either on the Log’s listed or on the “Add Logs” button on the bottom left corner of the page to initiate the process of starting your Quick Timer. Once you click on either creating logs or the logs listed you will be brought to the “Create Logs” page and notice that that there is a new feature on the bottom of the page that states “Quick Timer”. This function will be used for your logs listed or the ones that you create allowing for users to be able to set or start a quick timer for the exercise that they currently have logs on. Meaning that rather than having to go through the preferences and settings for each workout on your routine and having to set a timer after each set performed, you can perform the sets for your exercise on this page and be able to set/start/end your timer right away without having to click through multiple buttons to begin this action.
*Note The quick timer is used just as a reference tool and will not store the information on the timer that you have used for the logs of exercises performed.*
11.) Ability to do Instant Workout From Exercise Page (No Need to change current Routine) Temporary Workout/Replacement:
The last feature we added to the update is the new “Instant Workout” from the specific exercise page that you are currently on. This feature will allow a user to click on an exercise, like the “Barbell Bench Press” and on that main menu of the exercise itself on the bottom right hand corner there will be a button called “Do It”. It refers to the new function we have integrated that takes the user from the exercise page and brings them to the Quick Logs/Timer page, from here the user can quickly type in the amount of weight that they are doing on that exercise and the amount of reps with that set. Also on the bottom of the page above the numerical pad, there is the Quick Timer function as well so that after an exercise is completed, the user types in the amount of seconds they want timed before moving on to the following set.
This function is extremely important as there are multiple users that want to be able to do an exercise during their routine, without actually having to go through and edit the routine page by page, this eliminates the frustration and time it takes to edit a routine and allows a user to easily do an exercise right away during the middle of their workout. Whether there is somebody on the machine you wanted to use, using the equipment or it is not available, users will be able to adjust on the fly and do their routines on their own time/basis.
*****Forum Update:*****
Another note is that this week we have also revamped our Forum page with new sections focusing on Nutrition, Supplements, Motivation for lifting, Diet Plans, Weight Loss help, General Chatting, Sharing your Pictures and Success Stories and of course most importantly of all, Introducing Yourself to the JEFIT community. With the development on this major update, our tracking and appearances on the JEFIT forums have been slim and we feel like we have abandoned our users on those pages and it is unacceptable. We want to bring our users closer together in a friendly, safe, helpful and appealing environment where people can help each other out, share information, post helpful hints and tips for lifting, and become friends to help strengthen the JEFIT community. This is where users can also help each other out with any issues or bugs that the program might have, one user might have a solution that many others are looking for and being able to share this resourceful news is a great help not only to other users, but us the developers as well. The JEFIT community is one of the most important aspects of our application and website because without you guys, without our users, we are nothing and we want to be there for you, to create an atmosphere that you want to come back to and share your thoughts, diet plans, routines, anything and all fitness with the world. So log onto JEFIT.com and click on the forums page, introduce yourself, post up a random thought, share your pictures and diet plans with others, help each other with the same common goal that we are all here for, and that goal is to better our lives through fitness and exercise.

Whats Next?
JEFIT Workout App For the IPhone
Our next project though will be the development and production of the JEFIT Workout Application for the IPhone! Getting JEFIT on the IPhone Platform has always been a major concern and strive for us, as the market of IPhone users has grown dramatically within the past few months since the release of both the IPhone 4 and the IPad 2, along with the September release of the IPhone 5 it only makes sense for us to join the bandwagon and bring our application to another OS. Though many Android users might frown upon this shift, we are not abandoning our Android application at all, with the amount of people in our development team, we are going to be focusing as much man power on the IPhone App Development as possible so that it can be released as soon as possible and we will be able to release updates for both the Android and IPhone applications. As a company, being able to develop for another platform, especially one as popular and fast rising as the IPhone market, only makes sense to boost our revenue and gain more exposure to Apple users and Apple Developers. We want to gain more popularity among the masses and become one the top Workout Application among both markets and with the help of our passionate Android JEFIT users, we know we can accomplish this. What is extremely important about this update and release on the IPhone OS as well is that with the increase amount of revenue this will bring us, it will provide us with the opportunity to hire more employees to our development team. More programmers means work will get done much faster, ideas will be brought together quickly and coherently, and we will be able to provide for you, the users, faster updates, more features and functions and focus on making JEFIT the most premiere and as perfect workout application as possible. As stated above, we are hoping to have the IPhone application released soon so that we can focus on bringing updates to both platforms and making JEFIT as bug free as possible. (We hope that our Android users understand this and we greatly appreciate your support!)

Again we would like to thank you all for your support and choosing JEFIT as your workout application to help you maintain your fitness and achieve goals that you have set out. hello
I have not been able to sync my HTC EVO with the website since updating. It says “incompatible format”. Will you please help. Thanks, Joe Bateman, 772 215 1546 (cell)
Same problem, can’t sync
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
