    Gurjeet's stronglift 5 x 5 log

    Hi.
I am Gurjeet from India. I recently read the 5 x 5 stronglifts report and since was pursuing strength based training got hooked on instanly. Been doing this routine since 2.5 months now and got some good results. I will be posting my log from today onwards. Have been maintaining a log on a notebook at the gym. Lets see if I feel motivated enough to copy that here .
My biggest challenge right now is my squat. Have already dropped to 3 x 5 for all exercises, and am currently stuck with squats at 95-100 kg mark. It just wont go beyond this. I do not want to fall off to 1 x 5 right now as the weight is not much. Any advice would be welcome
Already been at Stronglifts 5 x 5 since 2.5 months.
    Current body stats
    Age : 33
    Height : 6feet 1inches
    Weight : 88 Kgs
Today's workout (all weights are in kilograms) :
    1. Squat : 60 x 5, 80 x 5, 95 x 5,5,4
    2. Overhead Press : 40 x 5, 50 x 5, 55 x 5,5,5
    3. Deadlift : 80 x 5, 100 x 5, 125 x 4
P.S. My gym does not have fractional plates and though I have ordered a pair, I think it is taking forever for them to be delivered so my increments are all 5 kgs.

Well if you're struggling with 100kg, the weight is perhaps too high. What part of the squat are you having trouble with?

    deviation.....

mate those squat videos are awesome! i never realised how naive i was with squats until now. have only recently introduced them into my routine but after watching these vids, i think i'd be best to go back to the start and re-evalutae my technique.

can some of the mods sticky these vids and maybe make a 'how to' section on complex exercises?

Congrats on getting starting stronglifts. I did stronglifts also. Its a great program to start with and gets you on the right track fast. The videos are great to learn how to squat right. Make sure your eating right also. The strength will come just don't quit. Also Dont be afraid to deload 10-20% and work your way back up if need be. Before i went to 3x5 i deloaded several times and found that between that and working on my form I was able to blast through it.

Thank you deviation for the awesome video. Thanks for the tip amcredle. Was out of city for some work so could not post my last workout. I have so many issues with my squat form after seeing that video... that I wonder how I managed to reach 100kgs?..... . Anyways have thought of deloading 30% on squats and picking up from there with proper form. I will not move up the wieghts till I get the right technique.

Log for 13.09.2012 (all weights in kgs)
    1. Squats : 50 x 5, 60 x 5, 70x5,5,5
Note : Sitting back is kind of new and i struggled with even 70kg, but yes the movement out of the hole was so very much more explosive.
    2. Bench Press : 40 x 5, 50 x 5 , 60 x 5,5,5
    3. Bent over rows : 30 x 5, 40 x 5, 45 x5,5,5
Note : Another exercise which is miserably low... I keep on deloading and getting stuck again at 50kgs...
Just wanted to ask you pros out there.... Are my stats / weights too poor for someone who has been at stronglifts for 2.5 months or are they in the okay range?..
Till next log entry cya all.
