    Nuts !

    Hi,

I know this is probably an obvious question to some of you but its been bugging me for a while.

I know that everyone recommends eating nuts but after buying some it says that there is quite a lot of fat in them, now i've read that this is "good fat" but can someone confirm this for me as I eat nuts as a healthy snack and don't want to destroy my hard work !

    Cheers !

With nuts it really comes down to portion size. When you actually measure out what one portion size is it can sometimes be depressingly small. Personally I could easily eat 10+ portions without realizing it. Other then that that you obviously want to avoid the heavily salted/coated varieties as these will be extra detrimental to your health.

Nuts are a good healthy source of fat, but just like anything else it's all about moderation

The fats in nuts are polyunsaturated, which means they include bonds around which the molecule cannot twist or bend. Among other things, this means that molecular strands cannot pack as closely together, and so they exist as liquids at lower temperatures (a preferential trait when they're dissolved in your blood). Omega 3s (the particular polyunsaturated fat found in nuts) are associated with lower levels of triglycerides, and several other beneficial conditions.
Nuts are are a part of my daily diet -- and my body fat hovers around 10%.

Brazil nuts. Selenium is one of the most important minerals for our body’s growth, but the fact is that it is present only in a limited number of foods. Regarding the content of selenium, nothing can outweigh brazil nuts. It is simple to conclude that brazil nuts originated from Brazil.
One of the long-term health benefits of brazil nuts is to protect your heart from many diseases. Brazil nuts contain some healthy unsaturated fats which hold remarkables amounts in their content. They refer to oleic and palmitoleic acids which are beneficial for cardiovascular health. These acids are some forms of omega-3 fatty acids which fight against harmful fatty acids inside your body. Therefore, you are less likely to undergo stroke or heart attack. However, due to their high calorie content, brazil nuts should not be consumed excessively, or else you will increase the risk of heart disease.
