Good stuff. I take a different approach I guess. I usually sit quietly and think about my routine and how I'm going to lift. Kind of a mental pump if you will.

I do listen to music when I lift though.

Sometimes i listen to alot of Rage against the machine, always gets me abit hyper
or i go the opposite way and listen to like chilled out stuff like Adele, fyfe dangerfield and normally i wear a big hoody with an oversized hood so i get a kinda blinkered look so i can focus abit better

    Robertrogo,

First off let me say that I have never met another person who listened to Coheed and Cambria... that is a badass song.

Second, I am a huge Breaking Benjamin fan... so i listen to a lot of them when I workout. But the one song that motivates me more than anything is Dear God by Avenged Sevenfold...

I am in the United States Marines and I deploy soon. I have a daughter on the way (anyday now) and my wife that I leave soon. This song motivates me to levels far surpassing any heavy metal, angry music I listen to...

This song brings out the harsh realization that death could possibly be in my future. I train to better myself as a Marine. I don't train to get huge, to get girls, titles, etc... I workout to do my job in the Military better. I am infantry and I rely heavily on my strength to push through days of patrolling and my endurance as well.

I appreciate that Robertrogo. I really do.

Another band (brand new) that I listen to is Next September. It was created by Jon Pruett who was a Youtube phenom. He would cover any band and make it sound better than the original. Finally, he got his own band... what makes it interesting is he is in the service and most of his songs are about serving and deploying.

Today, however, I didn't listen to any music when I went. I took my jack3d and creatine mono and just went. Went heavy too for 2 hrs... i'm tired....

About to sit and listen to Band of Horses while I make dinner!
