Seem to be on a roll with these late night log updates.

Went for a run today...a barefoot run. I hadn't done a barefoot run in several months and the soles of my feet show it. Ran ~1.64 miles with lots of incline. Hit a patch of gravel at some point and kind of threw my run off. Calves were on fire after the run though.

    Just after my run

    After a scrubbing

Cleaned 'em up and popped one blister. Fortunately I had some New Skin around (liquid bandage). Slathered it up and away I went. Little did I know the wife wanted to go to the zoo today. So several miles of walking up hills in the humid 90 degree weather, my feet are killing me.

Calves were still a little stiff from the weekend, but as always I pressed on. Yesterday must have wore me out since I didn't pry myself out of bed until 8am.

    • Barbell Full Squat - 135.0x8,135.0x8,165.0x8,165.0x8
    • Barbell Good Morning - 65.0x10,65.0x10,85.0x10,85.0x10
    • Standing Barbell Calf Raise - 85.0x20,85.0x20,95.0x20,95.0x20
    • Barbell Shrug - 95.0x10,95.0x10,115.0x10,115.0x10
    • Dumbbell Arnold Press - 15.0x10,15.0x10,15.0x10,15.0x10
    • Dumbbell Front Raise - 5.0x10,5.0x10,5.0x10,5.0x10
    • Dumbbell Lateral Raise - 5.0x10,5.0x10,5.0x10,5.0x10
    • Decline Oblique Crunch - 0.0x15,0.0x15

Squats were intentionally light. Last week's squat form was poor so I focused more on the form rather than weight. Felt much better today. Overall the workout felt light, but enough to get a good sweat going.

Went to the Vitamin Shoppe to refill my stash.

I've been looking for a new pre-workout and I've been impressed with ON's protein products. Thought I'd try Amino Energy out.

So I checked my mail when I got back and I had this waiting for me

The good folks over at ON sent me some samples. I've really been wondering about their Platinum HydroWhey product so I'm excited to try that out. The Amino Energy sample I'll likely pass on to a friend since I just bought some. Mocha Cappucino sounds tasty. I'd have to order that from somewhere since Vitamin Shoppe doesn't carry it.

I thought a vacation was supposed to be relaxing not taking it to the extreme haha. But your building yourself some endurance right there which you cannot deny or pass up on.
Well what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger right? The sunburn turned out to be sun poisoning. So I kind of look a bit like a lepur with bumps filled with fluid and skin peeling off. Nasty, but today was the first day it didn't hurt. Just starting to itch a bit.
As for the feet, they are all good now. Should have a nice callus coming up. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, but I'm having an urge to run again. We'll see how the urge holds up at 4am.

No picture today. The one I took just looks like a semi blurry leg. One of these days I'll remember to take my expensive Nikon DSLR down to the basement with me and snap some quality pics. I always remember after I get down there.

    Ain't nothin' but a peanut!

    • Barbell Deadlift - 155.0x8,155.0x8,175.0x8,205.0x8
    • Barbell Bent Over Row - 115.0x10,115.0x10,115.0x10,115.0x10
    • Straight Arm Push Down - 15.0x20,25.0x10,25.0x10,25x10
    • One-Arm Dumbell Row - 25.0x10,25.0x10,35.0x10,35.0x10 [new PR; 46lb 1RM]
    • One-Arm Dumbell Row - 25.0x10,25.0x10,35.0x10,35.0x10
    • Pullups - 0.0x3,0.0x3
    • Russian Twist - 10.0x10,10.0x10

    Notes
Basically a repeat of last week's workout. Which is a great thing. I was really happy to hit all reps on the deadlifts. I was concerned I may not hit them all, but I focused and tada. New PR on the one-arm rows. Not real sure why I hadn't tried heavier weight earlier on. Pullups still suck, but I'll keep trying.

The straight arm push downs are likely getting moved to my chest/forearm/tris day. Those hit my triceps harder than my lats no matter what stance I take. I'll replace them with barbell pull overs for the lats.

    New Stuff
Got to try out ON's Amino Energy. Tried two scoops which is about 2 tablespoons I'd guess. First off it tastes REALLY good. I have the Concord Grape flavor and it tastes just like grape juice. Mixed up easy as well. About 20-30 mins later, my body started to wake up. What was nice is that it wasn't like a caffeine overload. The tingling was mild though my dosage was lower than what one might typically use. I like to gauge my reaction before I go too high. The energy lasted well past my workout. So far so good. Full review coming in a week. Stay tuned.

    Pics
A bit grainy since it's a still from a video. Me grunting during my bent over rows immediately after my deadlifts. lower back was still feeling the pain. IOMS FTW!

And a bonus pic. My sun poisoning a week later. Red, itchy, and still a lil sore.

Well when I like something I tell others...lots of others. Spreadin' the word. Kind of like JEFIT. In fact the sample of Amino Energy they gave me, I gave to a friend since I had some. I didn't try out the HydroBuilder today. Honestly not sure why I didn't. It is pricey, but if it works as well as people say I may get some for workout days. Not that I have extra money floating around or anything.

No crash from the Amino Energy. In fact I put two scoops in an empty water bottle to enjoy later this afternoon. It did say you could use it as amino acid supplement, pre-workout, post workout, and a pick me up. The dosages for each vary. I've seen some people sip it during workouts too. It was $22.50 at Vitamin Shoppe for 30 servings. I'll post up a review after I use it for a bit longer.

It feels great to hit new maxes. What I find that makes the most difference is your mental attitude before, leading up to and during. And I've hit some spots where I just wanted to quit. Thus far it's been my mind preventing me from reaching higher goals. If you don't think or believe you can, you won't. You do truly have to visualize what you want your body to be/do. Much like Arnold has said in the numerous videos out there. It's days like this that make you really appreciate sticking with it though. Well that and being able to wear athletic fit shirts and them not be baggy or show a gut.

The sun poisoning thing is annoying more than anything now. Peeling & itchy. I've got some spots that may need checked. Hoping it goes away once it heals up. Bad part about being a ginger and having skin cancer in the family. :/

Today we hit over 100 and around 110 with a heat index. So what did I decide to do? Go for a run.

Today was supposed to be a rest day, but I had the urge to run. Got home. Grabbed a couple slices of toast with PB and some water. Napped for 30 mins (I was tired ). Downed some Amino Energy. Applied sunscreen (SPF 85+). Off I went.

Ran 2.47 miles in 32 mins. Lots of hilly ups & down. The run back was awful though. Side splits and lightheaded feeling set in hardcore. Those forced me to slow down a lot. Prior I was on pace for sub 9 min/mile.

    • Push Up - 0.0x15,0.0x15,0.0x15,0.0x15

    Notes
I was a bit tired this morning. Probably a combination of last night's run and a lter than usual bed time. Barely hit that last rep on the bench. It was a struggle, but I was determined to rack it.

I will be revamping my routine for next week along with my diet. Not exactly sure what, but I think I will drop a set from each. Perhaps go with a 5/3/1 or 6/4/2 style.

    New Stuff
Yep. More new stuff. Cracked open my packet of Cookies n Cream Platinum HydroWhey from ON. Wow was it tasty. I've had their cookies n cream Gold Standard Whey as well, but this was just amazing. Like cookies n cream ice cream. I used as a post workout, but since its strictly whey (not to be confused with their HydroBuilder product) I can't say I noticed anything. It is pure hyrdosolated isolate whey. So its the best of the best. And a bit more pricey.

    Stats
I guess I should start with the fact that I really just learned how to properly measure myself. Sounds dumb, but there is a technique to it. That said, my previous stats were probably a bit higher in areas (arms, forearms). Here's the latest.

My mistake was measuring flexed last time. Of course I measured then thought "hey I should figure out how to do this". That aside my shoulders grew 2", forearms .5", thighs .5", and neck .5". Body fat dropped almost 2%. Though that's not the lowest its been. I use my scale's (Tanita) BF measurement since I haven't picked up a pair of calipers yet.

Not bad for a month. I feel good with it. Next month's comparison should be more accurate. I wish I had stats from the very beginning (aside from BF%).

    Pics
I updated my before & after in the first post, but here it is again.

    And a calve shot

I really need to start using my nice Nikon DSLR. Never seem to remember it. Always have my phone since JEFIT is on it.

Thanks man. I was hoping it wasn't an optical illusion and it was noticable. LOL

As for the HydroWhey, you're right. It's pricey. Heck I make good money and I still can't afford (note: home ownership is overrated). What kind of skews it some is the weight. It's sold in 1.75lb and 3.5lb tubs. Not really sure why. But Gold Standard Whey is about $0.62 a serving. HyrdoWhey is about $1.57. I can't justify it myself either.

Thanks man. See. Squats, deadlifts, and bench do work! (I'm gonna keep on that until I see a revised routine from you )

Well my pants are looser for sure. Not real sure how I keep measuring that high in waist when I now wear a 33-34. My dress shirts don't button at the top any more. Guess its good I don't wear them often. My regular t shirts & polos are starting to look a bit short. The shoulder width seems to make 'em wear different. Not too bad yet, but I have a feeling I'll be buying new stuff soon. The plus side is that my athletic cut shirts look great on me.
