A myth a lot of women have: lifting weights will make you gain weight, become "bulky", look like "a man" or She Hulk.
What I learned: you need to put a ton of time and effort in the weight room as well as a spot on diet to be "bulky". You might need to take extra supplements to even come close to that female Marvel superhero.
But lifting weights and a good diet will actually give women the physique and look that most of them want to have.
Lifting light with many reps for hypertrophy and lifting heavy for a few reps both will give you the dream body you are aspiring for.
As a beginner, walking into the gym can be anxiety provoking since its easy to worry about being judged or fitting in. This can happen to women in a weight room full of men.
But learning to lift weights doesn't have to be scary. Gym communities are usually extremely welcoming to newcomers and happy to help a newbie learn the ropes or barbells.
Lifting weights has given me mental and physical benefits. It has improved my self confidence and self image. Workouts help me reduce stress, better my mood and help me sleep better too.
