does the deload phase just lower the weights you do? is it good for mastering technique and form or just for taking things easier on your body?

jlhflex It may lower the volume,as well as weight but thats the point. Deloading used to still go through the movements without pushing yourself with the same intensity as your normal workouts. Good to use if you dont want to take a day off but still want to go through the movements. Its not designed for mastering but definetly can be used for that since you are not pushing heavy.

TheBusyDad All of the above.

My body will start telling me I need a deload week. Ai feel so much better after one.

The other part of deloading is to not go back to 100% after the week. Add 50% to what you did during the deload. It will also help with the recovery

Carphill007 Think of it as active rest but it is wise to hyper focus on technique too - build that muscle memory.

Workout Addict Both! Its main purpose is to decrease the fatigue from the hard training and get you ready for the next mesocycle. It is both mental and physical.
