I had what the surgeon referred to as a 95% tear of my right bicep. After surgery, it was recommended to lift nothing over a pound for the first month. This was difficult due to being right handed dominant. I was in a sling for the first 6 weeks. After 6 weeks it was upped to 3 pounds. At the 3 month mark I was allowed to return to normal function but no lifting that strained my arm. I honestly was not released fully until 6 months. I will still feel a twinge even after 2 years. It is a humbling recovery for a weight lifter. If you have any other questions feel free to message me.

Thats how i did mine with EZ bar..never got it checked so not sure if it was strained or partial. I did find i could do very light weight with nuetral grip or some pronated excercises like hammer curls and weight plate curls….i nursed it back and it took a good 3-4 months of lighter weight and other excersises… been good since then but very careful now with EZ bar and similar excersises…no more ego lifts for me! I am also almost 66 years old so may vary if your are younger. Good luck and go slow ot will pay off in the long run
This is the reason why I don’t go super heavy anymore on the EZ bar preacher curl. You can easily tear your bicep.
