say you have 12 reps on chest incline press and you stop at 6 or 8 and take a little breather and then it hit again for what’s left to complete that set. is that considered cheating if you stop for a little and then continue on? I think it’s good to pace yourself right as long as you’re finishing the job, right? let me know what you think!

Workout Addict :  I would do 8 reps and do partials for the remaining 4 sets without pausing (from the bottom to middle up). The late John Meadows did partial reps. Jay Cutler does partials also. This is an old bodybuilding technique.

musclemeeple2 :  unless you are recording for someone else (like a trainner or someone is reviewing your logs) you are cool to record however works best for you...it is not "bad" or "cheating" if it helps you train your hardest and you know what you mean when you record it

livelikeanapexpredator :  this is rest pause set and valid. but afaik, use it sparingly.

you need to reach failure..eg you stop at 8, but thats cause you tried 9 and could not finish the rep. muscular failure at 8.

rack the weights, rest 10 to 20, then go for 9 10, maybe 11 but really struggle now.

be careful and use safeties or have a spotter, esp if its a BB press or squat
